Corporate Networking Evening — Doncaster
Corporate events have a specific challenge: the drinks need to work hard. They have to break down social barriers, give people something to talk about, and keep energy levels high throughout a long evening.
This Doncaster networking event was exactly that brief — a room full of professionals who didn't all know each other, and three hours to make them feel like old friends.
The Brief
The client wanted a bar that was interactive as much as practical. They'd seen too many corporate events where the bar was just a table with bottles. They wanted a proper mixologist, proper cocktails, and something that would make their guests feel genuinely looked after.
We were booked for four hours under our Cocktail Extravaganza package, with a customised menu and branded menu cards to match the company's event branding.
The Approach
For corporate events, I always recommend building the menu around approachability and conversation. That means:
- One visually striking cocktail that gets people asking "what's that?" across the room
- One crowd-pleaser that everyone will enjoy regardless of preference
- One low-ABV option for those on their second or third drink of the evening
- A strong mocktail that stands on its own
We also bring interactive elements where appropriate — in this case, a "build your own garnish" moment for one of the cocktails, which gave people a natural point of connection at the bar.
The Menu
- The Networker (signature serve) — Gin, Lillet Blanc, cucumber, celery bitters, lemon. Clear, sophisticated, sparkling. The visual showstopper.
- Classic Old Fashioned (crowd-pleaser) — Buffalo Trace bourbon, demerara syrup, Angostura bitters, orange peel. Stirred tableside.
- Aperol Highball (low-ABV) — Aperol, soda, orange, thyme. Refreshing and familiar.
- Cucumber Cooler (mocktail) — Cucumber, lime, mint, elderflower, sparkling water. Elegant non-alcoholic option.
The Outcome
Three hours in, the bar had become the focal point of the room — which is exactly what a corporate cocktail bar should do. Several guests spent time watching the builds, asking questions about technique, and requesting variations.
The client reported that feedback on the drinks was overwhelmingly positive and that it was "the best money spent on the evening."
That's what we're here for.
Why a Cocktail Bar Works for Corporate Events
A professional cocktail bar does more than serve drinks. It:
- Creates a focal point in the room that draws people together
- Gives guests something to talk about — the cocktail becomes a shared experience
- Signals that the host cares about the guest experience, not just the logistics
- Sets the tone for the whole evening
